How to Know if Your Renter Agreed to Terms for an Admin-Created Order

Check whether a renter has agreed to your legal terms on an admin-created order, and collect their signature by email, in person, or QR code.

Here's the help desk article for this transcript:

How to Confirm and Collect Customer Agreement to Terms

This article explains how to tell whether a customer has agreed to your legal terms on an order, and the different ways you can have them agree if they have not yet done so. This mainly applies to admin created orders, since customers who place an order directly from the e-commerce site are required to agree to terms as part of checkout.

Checking Whether Terms Have Been Agreed To

  • Open the order and look under the Order Status section in the timeline.

  • If the customer has not yet agreed, you will see a note that says User Did Not Agree to Legal Terms Yet.

  • This note lets you know they still need to go into the site and complete this step.

How the Customer Is Notified on Admin Created Orders

  • Whenever an order is placed by an admin, the customer receives an email asking them to agree to terms.

  • The customer opens the email and clicks Agree to Terms.

  • This opens a new page on the e-commerce site where they can view the order summary and agree to all terms.

  • The customer clicks Generate My Digital Signature and Agree to Legal Terms to complete the process.

Other Ways to Collect Agreement

If the customer did not receive the email, or you want to collect their agreement a different way, you have three options directly from the order.

  • Resend the email. Click the resend icon to send the agreement email again so the customer can open it and agree to terms as described above.

  • Have the customer sign in person. Click the icon in the middle to automatically open the same agreement screen, where the customer can agree to terms and generate their signature on the spot.

  • Generate a QR code. Click this button to generate a QR code that the customer can scan with their phone. Scanning it pulls up the same agreement page where they can agree to terms.

Common Questions

How do I know if a customer has agreed to terms yet?
Open the order and check the Order Status timeline. If they have not agreed, you will see a note that says User Did Not Agree to Legal Terms Yet.

Do customers who order through the e-commerce site need to do this separately?
No. Customers placing an order directly from the e-commerce site are required to agree to terms as part of checkout, so this process typically only applies to orders created by an admin.

What if the customer never received the agreement email?
Click the resend icon on the order to send the agreement email again.

Can a customer agree to terms in person instead of through email?
Yes. Click the middle icon on the order to open the same agreement screen on the spot, where the customer can agree to terms and generate their signature.

Is there a way for the customer to agree using their phone without email?
Yes. Click the QR code button on the order. The customer can scan the code with their phone to open the agreement page and agree to terms directly.
