Toolbox Talk Episode 23: Demo Day

Recording of Toolbox Talk Episode 23, a Quipli demo day session.

February 6th, 2025

New Features

  • Dispatch 2.0 (Calendar View)

    • A new calendar view has been added to the dispatch screen. The current list view is still available, you can switch between the two using the filter at the top of the dispatch screen.

    • In the calendar view, select the date and location at the top, then select a driver to see their calendar. Selecting multiple drivers will show all of their calendars side by side.

    • On the left side of the screen, unassigned pickups, unassigned deliveries, and overdue items appear as cards. Simply click and drag a card onto a driver's calendar at the desired time to assign it. The time updates automatically based on where you drop it.

    • Once assigned, clicking into a card lets you view the order details, change the driver, or change the scheduled time. You can also click and drag an already assigned card to a new time or driver.

    • You can filter the view by pickups only, deliveries only, or both.

    • This view is mobile friendly. On mobile, drag and drop is not available, so instead you tap into a delivery or pickup and manually assign the driver and time.

    • Not included in this release but planned: an inspection checklist built into the dispatch flow so drivers can check off items as delivered or picked up, and email notifications to drivers when they're assigned a delivery or pickup.

  • Duplicate products with unique custom pricing

    • Previously, if the same product was added more than once to an order, all instances had to share the exact same rate. Updating the price on one automatically updated the price on the other.

    • Now each instance of the same product on an order can have its own independent custom pricing. Updating one no longer affects the other.

    • This also applies to custom rental products, which previously required the same pricing structure across duplicate line items on an order. Each custom product line item can now be priced independently.

  • New configuration: Update order rental dates on action

    • A new setting allows the on rent and off rent times entered during dispatch actions to automatically update the contract and invoice, rather than just logging the action.

    • This is an opt in configuration. The default behavior is unchanged, on rent and off rent dates will not automatically update the contract unless this setting is turned on.

    • The setting can be applied to on rent only, off rent only, or both.

    • When turned on, a checkbox appears during the on rent or off rent action asking whether to update the product's start or end date. If unchecked, the contract is not updated. If checked, the date and time you select will automatically update the contract and invoice, and the order will be recalculated.

    • Example given: an order scheduled to go on rent on the 7th at 10am for $300 (6 hours at $50/hour) was instead put on rent on February 4th at 2pm with the setting enabled. The contract, invoice, and total were automatically recalculated based on the new start time.

    • For off rent, the same logic applies using the existing late charge style calculation. If an order was scheduled to return on the 7th but is off rented early on February 5th at 3:30pm, the price recalculates automatically, for example dropping from $600 to $500 plus associated fees, and the contract dates update accordingly.

    • The wording on the off rent screen still references the existing late charge terminology for now. This may be revisited based on feedback.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

  • Improvement: Loading icons added to report exports. When exporting a report, a loading indicator now shows the report name and confirms it is actively exporting. If an error occurs, it will display immediately and the export will be canceled. If an export seems stuck, you can refresh the screen to exit, though this will not download the report.

  • Improvement: Cardholder name always displayed on saved credit cards. Cardholder name is a required field when adding a credit card. Previously, if a card had no nickname, nothing displayed. Now the cardholder name always displays, and if a nickname exists, it appears just before the name.

  • Improvement: Location toggle added to the revenue report. You can now filter the revenue report by a specific location instead of only viewing revenue across all locations.

Common Questions

When I assign a driver to a delivery or pickup, does it send them an email notification?
Not currently. Email notifications are not part of this release, but it's been logged as a feature request based on customer feedback.

Will dispatch include a delivery or return ticket listing all order items for drivers to check off as delivered or returned?
Not in this release. The team plans to add the inspection checklist feature into the dispatch flow so drivers can verify items during delivery and pickup, but for now dispatch functions more like a log for tracking driver activity.

Does the calendar view replace the old dispatch list view?
No, both views are available. Use the filter at the top of the dispatch screen to switch between the list view and the new calendar view.

Can I use drag and drop on mobile to assign deliveries?
No, drag and drop is desktop only. On mobile, tap into the delivery or pickup and manually select the driver and time.

If I turn on the setting to update order dates automatically, will it change every on rent or off rent action?
Only if you enable it for that specific action. You can turn the setting on for on rent only, off rent only, or both, and it will only affect the type(s) you select.
