Understanding the Rental Item Return Report

Walkthrough of the Rental Item Return report's filters and every column in the return list, including Return Status vs. Pickup Status.

The Rental Item Return report shows exactly which rental items have been returned (or are due back) for a period you choose — useful for confirming pickups happened, spotting overdue equipment, and tracing a specific unit back to its order.

Step 1 — Filter Your Data

Across the top of the report are three filters. You don't have to use all of them — leave any filter blank and it simply won't narrow anything down.

Filter

What it does

Rental End

Filters to items whose rental ended within a date range you choose. Defaults to "Yesterday" when you first open the report.

Location

Narrows the report to one or more specific yards or branches.

Order Number

Jump straight to a specific order.

Working with the Rental End Filter

Rental End is a date filter. Clicking it opens the same style of menu you'll see on other Quipli reports: a quick preset (Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 Days, and similar), a Fixed Date Range for an exact start and end date, or a Relative Date Range that automatically stays current as time passes.

Step 2 — Read the Rental Return List

The report is a single table, one row per item returned. You can look up or sort by:

Column

What it tells you

Location

Which yard or branch the item was rented from.

Order Number

The order the item belongs to, so you can trace it back to the source.

Customer

Which customer rented the item.

Rental Start

When the rental began.

Rental End

When the rental ended (or is scheduled to end).

Product

The specific item or equipment rented.

Quantity

How many units of that product were on the order.

Unit Numbers

The specific unit(s) rented, if the product is serialized.

Serial Numbers

The serial number(s) tied to those units.

Return Status

Whether the item has been returned.

Pickup Status

The status of the pickup for this item.

Downloading Report Data

Click the in the top-right corner of the Rental Return List to download the results as a file. There's also an export icon at the far right of the filter bar for exporting the report as a whole.
